Street Life Festival - 7. June 2008
Every year in June is the "car-free" day in Europe. Since 2000 this is the day when Munich celebrates the Street Life Festival.
This year it takes place on the 7th of June and the Leopoldstrasse is converted into a peatonal zone with bars, music, artits, food stalls etc.
Start at Odeonsplatz and walk your way up on one of the busiest streets in Munich
City Tour Card
Similar to the daily tickets for public transport, now you can buy the City Tour Card. It costs 16 Euros for one person and includes the use of all public transport in Munich for one day and discounts in more than 30 attractions and museums.
A great bargain if you plan to visit 2-3 museums in one single day. Otherwise, opt for the normal day ticket and pay the entrance fees separately.
14.+15. June 850 Years Munich
Munich was founded on 14th of June 1158. Every year at the nearest weekend to this date, there's a festival held. This year, for the "round" birthday, there will be lots and lots of attractions such as live music, arts and crafts market, exhibition of traditional professions, dance performances.
31.5.08 The Long Night of Music
Musiclovers and night owls are looking forward to the Long Night of Music.
All around the city bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, etc. offer live music from 8 pm to 3 am.
One ticket allows you to enter all of the venues, including the transport in the shuttle buses.
850 Year Celebration
Munich was oficially founded in 1158. In that year, Heinrich der Loewe (Henry the Lion) constructed a bridge across the Isar river and from then on the salt trade caravans had to travel through the city.
This summer there will be many celebrations for the 850 years of Munich. Don't miss the many events.
