Getting to Schloss Nymphenburg

I will be in Munich in early June and want to go to the Nymphenburg Palace. I have found several suggestions on the internet on how to get there. I will be staying near the Marienplatz area. What is the best way to get there by public transportation?

Thank you.

Nymphenburg Palace is a fantastic place to visit in Munich. Apart from the main palace you can visit several smaller castles, the green houses and off course the vast park.

The best way to get to Nymphenburg palace by public transport is to take the Tram 17 from Karlsplatz, Stachus to Schloss Nymphenburg. From the tram station you have to walk 10 minutes along the Auffahrtsallee until you reach the castle.

Whether you walk from Marienplatz to Stachus (aprox. 15 minutes) or take any S-Bahn for one station is up to you.

You can find the time table on the official Munich public transport website: MVV Munich

Will I be able buy a ticket from the tram driver? Or is it better to purchse the ticket ahead of time? Also, how much would the ticket cost?

You can't buy tickets from the driver, but there are ticket machines inside the tram.
