Reservations

Hello,
I am planning on visiting Oktoberfest this year from September 28th to the 4th of October. We are a small group of three people ages 25-30 and like a loud spirited crowd. I would love to make reservations but it appears that a minimum of 6 is required for that.
My question is: how hard would it be for us just to walk into a tent like hippo and find a seat lets say on a Thursday-Friday night?
I am thinking about paying for a reservation for 6 anyway even though its just three of us for at least one night.

Hi Matthew,
actually the minimum number for Oktoberfest reservations is 10 persons (one table). For this year everything is already fully booked, even though you might get lucky and receive a reservation if you're on the waiting list in a beer tent and some other group cancels last minute.
Anyways, as you're only three persons, you can walk into any beer tent and find a space at the table with other people, if you consider a few things:
- go on weekdays! Weekends and especially Saturdays the beer tents are packed and usually don't let any more people inside
- go early, way before 4 p.m! Many tables are reserved after 4 p.m., so you can sit there until the "owners" arrive
- once you're inside the tent, you have already passed the biggest challenge, now you can freely walk around and search for a place to sit down
As for the Hippodrom, it's one of the smallest tents and known for a high celebrity factor. For normal people like us it's almost impossible to get inside on weekend evenings.
Better go there during week and try your luck some other place on Friday.
I have a short description of all 14 beer tents here:
