Saturday with 8 People Getting into a Tent

Hi,

I am heading to Munich this Friday for Oktoberfest with 8 friends. We want to get seats in a tent on Saturday, we were thinking of getting there around 8:30am to get in line for seats.
Is this early enough or would you suggest earlier to get in line for seats?
When inside the tent in a seat how long can you stay there? Is it only until 4pm because of people with reservations? Or can you stay there as long as you want after getting a seat?

Thank you.

Hi Dan,

even though Saturday is the day with most people coming to the Oktoberfest, I think 8.30 a.m. is too early. Even though the tents open at 9 a.m., I would probably go later, but that's off course entirely up to you.

Inside the tents you have two options:

1) Look for a table in the part that says "without reservation". These tables are usually in the middle of the tents near to the band. Advantage is that you can stay there as long as you want.

2) If the unreserved tables are already taken (which shouldn't be the case that early in the morning), you can sit on any of the tables more on the outside of the Oktoberfest beer tents, that are reserved at 4 p.m. Here you have to leave about 1/2 hour before the reservations begins.

Have fun!

Dan
