Buying Christmas decoration in March!!
Hi,
I am coming to Munich for a week in March 2010...to visit a friend in Munich. I met her in New Zealand when she was on holiday.
I have a request from friends here - to buy some German Christmas decorations...........but where in March??
I was keen to go on a day tour to Rothenburg.....but are a few weeks to early. The day trip season starts in April.
Do you have any suggestions??

This is a tricky question.
I don't know of any place in Munich, where you can buy Christmas decorations in March.
You're right, the guided day trips to Rothenburg usually start in April, but you can take a train (or car if you friend has one) and go there on your own.
It's not difficult, as Rothenburg is quite small and once you arrive at the train station it'll be quite easy to find your way around.
Besides Rothenburg ob der Tauber, there are Käthe-Wohlfahrt Christmas Shops in Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (near Castle Neuschwanstein), as well as in Nürnberg and Bamberg.
