Our Favorite Munich Parks
Great Places to Relax

Visit one of our favorite Munich parks, when you're ready for a break.

Kleinhesseloher See in the English Garden in Munich We know that sightseeing and visiting museums is exhausting. When your feet hurt from walking the streets all day long, your mind is "overpowered" from all the new things you've experienced and you can't stand any more culture, then it's definitely time to relax!

And what could be a better place to recharge your batteries than one of the beautiful Munich parks?

Visit them all, if you stay for a longer time in our city, or choose the one you like most, if you don't have much time. Here are our favorites:

The English Garden (Englischer Garten) is the most famous and biggest one. I like to walk or bike there, visit the beer garden Chinesischer Turm or lie on the grass and sunbathe.

Another of our favorites is the Olympiapark, which does not only offer beautifully shaped landscapes with artificial hills, but also a variety of attractions, such as Sea Life and the Television Tower.

If you prefer the garden-like type of parks, the garden of Schloss Nymphenburg is your first choice. It is a gorgeous and well maintained palace garden with several fountains and statues. Once you're there don't forget to visit the amazing Nymphenburg Palace .

Palace Garden at Castle Nymphenburg in Munich The former airport in Riem has been converted into the trade fair and a recreation area in the East of Munich. For the Buga 2005 (German Horticultural Show) the whole area has been professionally landscaped with blossoming wild flowers, Japanese gardens, playing grounds and a swimming lake.

In summer, open air movie festivals are held at the shore of the lake.
