Getting from Munich to Oberammergau

Dear Sir,

We will be traveling from Munich (actually we will be in Oberschleissheim) to Oberammergau on a Sunday in May.

We would like to be in Oberammergau as early as possible. Would we have to go from the Hauptbahnhof or is there some other way.

When we return we will have to go from Oberammergau to Munich Airport for a 1 pm flight.

We would appreciate any suggestions.

I have written an article about the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which might be interesting to you if you happen to be there in summer 2010.

As for getting there, you need to take the S-Bahn from Oberschleissheim to Hauptbahnhof and from there take a local train to Oberammergau.

There is a connection every hour, but you need to check the departure times at Deutsche Bahn.

Once you have found your preferred connection, check, if a cheap train ticket exists.

Same applies for your return, take the local train to Munich Hauptbahnhof and change to either S1 or S8 to Munich airport.
