More info for my 1st Munich trip
Hi. I'll be in Munich on Oct 3, 2010 for 3 days. Just want to see the beer tents myself. I'm not into drinking but would love to taste and try out foods during the Oktoberfest.
Do I need a ticket/reservation to enter the any of the tents? Where can I buy nice Oktoberfest souvenir items such as shirts, mugs, bags, etc?
Other 2 days, I wish to see the Munich places of interest. I was excited more when I saw the lions slides you have.

Hi Kiddo,
Last day of Oktoberfest 2010 is the 3rd of October, so you might want to arrive a few days before that.
Oktoberfest is great, even if you don't drink! But you should at least try a Radler (half beer half sprite) and combine it with some Bavarian sausage.
The atmosphere in the tents is great, but you can also sit outside in the beer garden and it will be almost as good, sometimes, when the sun is shining, even better :-)
With one or two persons, you can go without a reservation. Read my tips what to do without an Oktoberfest reservation.
You can buy souvenirs directly at the Theresienwiese, but also at Marienplatz or many other places in Munich. During Wiesn time its difficult not to find a place that sells Oktoberfest souvenirs ;-)
As for the other two days, there are lots of tourist attractions in Munich. I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile.
Unfortunately, most of the lions have disappeared from the streets, because they have been auctioned off for a children's charity.
Have Fun!
