Weather at New Year
My family will be going to Munich at around New Year.
We were wondering if it will snow? And what is there to do for New Years?
Do they have festivities like in New York? Or should be head to a specific beer garden? Or a restaurant?

Weather is usually cold at New Year in Munich. But if it will snow or not, nobody knows. You will have a good chance of snow if the weather behaves "normal", but we could also have temperatures up to 10-15°C.
Munich has plenty of festivities to celebrate the New Year.
Biggest one probably is the Tollwood festival at Theresienwiese.
Whereas the Christmas market ends on 23rd of December, the festival goes on until 31st of December and the final event is the big New Year's party.
There are several tents with food and drinks as well as live music of different styles and genres.
With one ticket (around 20 Euro) you are allowed the entry to all of the tents and the vast outdoors area, from where you can watch the fireworks at midnight.
Otherwise you could head for a restaurant, have a nice dinner (most restaurants offer so-called "Silvester Specials") and watch afterward the fireworks on the streets.
But you must book the restaurants already know, because they tend to be pretty booked out that night.
By the way, beer gardens, are only open during warm season, usually between April and October.
